Default notifications in the Teams mobile app
There are several kinds of notifications enabled by default on the Teams iOS mobile app. They include:
Chat—when someone sends you a message in a one-on-one or group chat.
Mentions—when you or a channel you're a member of is @mentioned.
Replies—when someone replies to your post in a channel, or to one that you've also replied to.
Calls—when someone calls you via Teams.
Meeting started—when someone joins a Teams meeting on your calendar.
Getting some notifications but not others
Your Notifications might be customized.
If you’re only getting alerts about certain kinds of activity, some notifications might be turned off.
Go to the account manager at the top left of the app and select Notifications. To select all notifications for Teams activity, tap on All activity. This enables you to receive notifications for chats, calls, @mentions, channels, meetings, and more.
Getting zero notifications on your mobile device
Teams notifications might be disabled.
There are two ways to fix notifications on your mobile device: one is through settings in Teams, the other is to go to the Settings app on your mobile device.
We ask for permission when you first launch the app, but you may have skipped this step, or turned off notifications from the device’s Settings app.
Here’s what to do:
In Teams, go to the account manager at the top left of the app, then select Notifications.
If your notifications are turned off, tap Open settings.
From the Settings app on your mobile device, select Notifications.
Toggle on Allow Notifications.
While you’re here, customize the way you receive notifications, including turning on sound to get a chime when a notification arrives.
Important: If Teams isn't showing in your iOS settings, uninstall and reinstall Teams to fix this issue.
Getting too many notifications on your mobile device
You might currently be active on the Teams web or desktop app.
Notifications are on by default on your mobile device, regardless of if you are active on desktop or web. To reduce distractions and draining your device’s battery, you can block notifications on your mobile device when you're using Teams on the web or the desktop app. You’ll start receiving mobile notifications once we detect that you’ve been inactive on the web or desktop for five minutes.
Note: Call notifications will be sent to mobile even if you are active on desktop.
Here's what to do:
Change this setting if you’d prefer to block notifications on your mobile device.
In Teams, go to the account manager at the top left of the app and tap Notifications.
Under Block notifications, select When active on other devices and turn on the toggle to block notifications when active on desktop or other device. You can also allow or block notifications when you're in a meeting by selecting When in meetings and turning on/off the toggle. Additionally, if you do not want notifications while you are using the Teams app, select the toggle for In-app notifications.
Note: If you still don’t get a notification on your mobile device, send a report to let us know. In the mobile app tap the account manager in the top left of the app > Settings > Help and feedback > Send feedback.
Getting an incorrect notification count on your mobile device
This is a known issue under investigation.
Teams might display an incorrect notification count on the iOS app badge. You'll still see the correct notification count in the desktop version of Microsoft Teams on both Windows and Mac.
For example, Teams on your desktop may indicate no unread messages, but Teams for iOS indicates that there are one or more unread messages.
